Imagine Sarah, a user who frequently purchases digital content like books, music, and videos. She values convenience and expects a smooth, unified shopping experience across her devices, whether on her desktop or mobile. Sarah is tired of juggling different payment methods and platforms when buying digital content. She wants a system that allows her to browse, purchase, and access her content seamlessly, all within her Ubuntu environment.
Understanding how people do online shopping and the integration of Ubuntu Pay concept for desktop and mobile platforms.
A Payment Experience for digital content involves utilizing the Ubuntu One cloud service to distribute digital assets such as books, music, and videos. The purchased journey included Product Selection, Cart View, Payment Information, Confirmation, Purchase Completion.
Additionally, integrating the platform with external online stores such as Amazon.com enhances accessibility and expands the range of available content for users.
Ethnographic research methods were instrumental in shaping the development of the payment flow for digital content. This involved immersing myself in the natural environments of users to observe how they interacted with digital content and their preferences when making purchases. Drawing insights from these real-world interactions, I created wireframes and prototypes. Conducting A/B testing with three interactive prototypes allowed us to refine our approach. Subsequently, the designs underwent rigorous interactive user testing to validate their effectiveness and usability, ensuring that the payment flow met the needs and expectations of the target audience.
Over one week, we interviewed 8 participants for 2 hours each. The interviews were split into two parts: the first part focused on their online shopping habits, while the second part discussed concept options for a new shopping experience in Ubuntu desktop.
After the observations, there is an abundance of information and valuable material to analyze. Now, it's time to map out all the insights.
