Alexa Guides You to Cook Delicious Recipes
Santa Clara, CA
Meet Maria, a busy professional who loves to cook but often finds it challenging to follow recipes while juggling other tasks. She recently purchased an Amazon Echo Spot and wants to use it in the kitchen to simplify her cooking process.
Alexa displays recipe steps while verbally guiding Maria. She can pause, ask questions, and receive real-time tips. Visual cues help her follow along without interruption.
With Alexa's assistance, Maria prepares a delicious chicken parmesan dinner effortlessly. The seamless integration of voice and visual interfaces lets her follow the recipe at her own pace, receiving helpful guidance and tips along the way. Using the Echo Spot's display, Maria can reference the recipe without touching her device with messy hands, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable cooking experience.
I led the design process for Cook Along on multimodal devices, collaborating with the team to define initial flows for recipe retrieval and step-by-step cooking interactions. I created wireframes, voice-forward prototypes, and implementation specs for Echo Show and Echo Spot devices. Observing users' recipe-following habits helped identify difficulties and design appropriate voice and visual guidance, shaping effective cooking flows that users could follow throughout the cooking process.
